JR to 25 - Why We Cannot Go Back

On Thursday, January 16th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, a panel discussion will explore Washington State’s Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) system to include individuals up to age 25, a decision based on scientific research. Since its implementation, the expansion has faced challenges due to the lack of necessary supporting measures, leading to significant issues in 2024. As the state approaches a critical legislative session, the future of JR for young adults is under debate. The panel of lived experts will provide evidence and solutions to advocate for the policy’s continuation, emphasizing its role in fostering rehabilitation and societal progress. Breakout sessions will encourage dialogue for group reflections. This community conversation is sponsored by Team Child and Kids are Kids.

Attendees are welcome to join us for dinner at 5:00 pm.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held at Washington Hall 153 14th Ave, Seattle
