TABLING POLICY for COMMUNITY GROUPS

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

(NOTE: Career & Opportunity Fair exhibitors, see below)

The Seattle MLK Jr. Organizing Coalition (the Coalition) welcomes community groups to table at our events in the main building at Garfield High School on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day).

  • We make table space available in the hallway of the main building before and during the Opportunity Fair (8:30-11:30 a.m.) and Workshop sessions (9:15-10:30 a.m.).

This free space is available on a FIRST-COME BASIS. Space is extremely limited. Once the hallway space is full, people will not be allowed to set up tables.

Due to additional coordination needed to SET UP the Opportunity Fair, we ask that you:

  • arrive to set up your table by 8 a.m.

  • Sign-in at the Information Desk, to your right, as you enter the building.

  • Set-up, ready to go by 8:30 a.m.

  • Remove tables and materials by 12:00 p.m.

If you would like to set up outside

  • The same rules apply

  • We do not restrict who may set up a booth.

  • To make sure that we are compliant and that the event is accessible, please do not block any doorways, parking lots or entrance.

Please review these important guidelines:

  • You'll need to bring your own card-size table (& chair if you'd like to sit). School chairs cannot be used. Due to the fire code, chairs must be alongside the tables (not behind or in front of the table). We must leave aisles wide enough for the safe passage of crowds.

  • No tables in the main entryway. Tables may be set up on the south side of the east-west corridor outside the Commons (Cafeteria). A large space will be reserved for our t-shirt vendor; please do not infringe on that space.

  • Sign-in at the Information Desk prior to setting up your table.

  • Bring painter’s tape if you need to affix anything on the walls.

  • No sales of products are allowed, but a suggested donation for small items such as buttons is fine.

We appreciate you paying attention to where tables are allowed - if questions, ask a volunteer at the Information Desk.

Please note: We will again be collecting your contact information this year. In the future, we may explore advance registration to coordinate the space better, and we want to make sure you get plenty of advance notice if we do.

Thank you for being so understanding!
